Building My Barcode Sense App With Vibe Coding
I built BarcodeSense using vibe coding, coding side-by-side with AI and focusing less on writing actual code and more on momentum, intuition, and rapid iteration. The idea came from real life: my dad is vegetarian, and I kept noticing how often packaged foods quietly include ingredients that do not actually fit vegetarian diets. I wanted a simple way to scan products and immediately know what is inside. From there, the concept expanded to help people understand what they are eating and make better choices with a simple scan. With a quick upload or scan, BarcodeSense surfaces product information, suggests AI-powered healthier alternatives, adapts recommendations based on mood and diet restrictions, checks dietary compatibility, highlights environmental impact with an eco score, and delivers original AI-driven insights about what you are actually putting into your body. The result is a clean, focused experience that helps you discover what is in your food with a single scan, powered by AI, built from a personal problem, and designed to make better eating feel effortless. The first version is out now and marks the first step in iterating on the idea.
